The Blues

I got the blues so bad
It’s the worst I’ve ever had
My dog died yesterday
Seems everyone is running away

I got the blues it’s a shock
The rocking chair on the porch won’t rock
The door to the house won’t close
Even lost my prize bush it’s a rose

I got the blues in my soul
My house fell down a forty foot hole
My whole life was held within
The reclamation man say’s I won’t see it again

I got the blues in my life
Yeah you guessed she’s gone my wife
Will the blues ever end
I don’t mean to offend

I got the blues in my head
I got a gun it’s rusty red
Seems I can’t shoot myself
The trigger parts are on the shelf

I got the blues it’s my fate
I suppose I will have to wait
Until they pass with time I’ll heal
Until then then the blues I’ll feel

Hi Owen....wow...you depict the blues very well! But there is good news....just around the corner, there is always something positive gained from something bad even if you don't know it yet. Keep writing - it's very good for the soul - hugs - Shaz

Lovely way of expressing 'the blues', I'm not sure if I want to laugh or cry, thought. I mean that voice is so hopeless, especially in Stanza 5 with that punch line. Owen, just go with lines 3 and 4 of the final stanza

"Everybody's had the blues" That's what Tommy Roe sang in one of his songs. If you didn't have an occasional emotional downturn, you would not be human. Good write Owen.

Very creative work..I hope just a work about life but not your life..I am glad that I stopped by this one today..It reminded me at first of my now deceased father-in-law..He used to sing "I'm going down to the river, get me a rocking chair and if these blues don't leave me I 'm going to rock on away from here"..Thanks for the kind review of my work..Sara

I too hope it wasn't real...but it was a great write... You may like my 'Little Miss Poet and the Spider'. It was real. I broke my toe... But the Troll wasn't there, of course. But the spider did peek out of the second computer, again...

Hi, Owen only you know how long the blues will last. A few verses in your poem are sad.. i see why one would feel and write such a blue note.. However: i know the that good fragrance will approach you soon... always~ pd
