It's wonderful when a poet from another place on the globe brings that place with such skill to the house bound reader! [soup mail] Light & Love

This is an absolutely well written intriguing piece. it was as if a musical was in my head as i read. If you don't mind reading my poem Where do the butterflies go.

So glad you coaxed me here, perhaps like the butterfly to the feather, I am glad you did---cause this is an awesome poem and the metaphor is so true. Why don't you host a contest in this form?

Good idea, but I had to put my membership on hold for a while. Will be up and running again soon (had some family mishaps.... now resolved).

love this beauty, Su - and I love this form too. I'd heard white was the mourning colour for the Ancient Romans, but I've never heard of red for mourning before - symbolic for blood, perhaps? Thanks very much for sharing that : )

I know that the Zulu's wear red at funerals - why that is so, I'm not sure.

Yes, it is a Quintella: a, a, b, b, a stanzas in 8 syllable lines.... Yes, it was the butterfly which tried to escape, although the obvious means of freedom was apparent: Not unlike our own selfimposed restrictions on life. Love and Peace, Su
