The Tramp

The Tramp

He awakes to hear a sound from above,
"Oh dear, what a pity. Oh dear what a pity."
The jerky sound of a turtle dove.
He listens again to the sound of the ditty.

The ground was cold and he is now awake.
He knows it will be a nice warm day.
A drop of water, his thirst will slake.
Gathering possessions and he's on his way.

Now which road will he take?
He feels as free as the birds in the sky.
"I think I will follow the one to the lake.
I need to wash the dust from my eye"

This is a good way to describe the homeless who inhabit our inner city streets.
