Echoes of the Past

silhouettes and shadows
oft masquerading as hope
dark echoes of a past life
haunt my wearisome soul,

feelings of lonesomeness
laying siege in my brain
an enigmatic symphony
of dire obscurity so bold

odd imprisoned thoughts
seeking true absolution
oftentimes contradictory
acts neither hot nor cold

ambient reverberating
sounds of infinite woe
a still voice reminiscent
of resiled beliefs of old

death’s inward soliloquy
ire illusions of unspoken
errant random reflections
loathness defiantly told

false fearless nightmares
sown in decenniums past
heartless mind-numbing
dour tribulations unsold
