Lucinda

Her name is Lucinda, a mere child, just turned fourteen
This hapless woman child, born of the blood of many lands
Conceived of youthful passion, in a moment of youthful lust
She arrived unplanned, unwanted and unloved, as no child ever should
Like you and I she has her hopes, her dreams, her needs and her plans
Here before us stands, this lovely child on the cusp of a blossoming womanhood
Abandoned by those who should care but who are oblivious to
Her wants, her needs, her dreams
Cast to the hands of fate to drift alone upon these savage streets, alone to face the night
You know they found her early Sunday morning, at early morning light
Lying silently in the crimson blood, the blood that once had held her precious life
Her name was Lucinda, a mere child, a lovely child, just turned fourteen
Cry a tear for her, SCREAM.

Donald... I, like many other woman/child can so identify with your endearing, yet sad words, so deftly crafted to call to the hearts of those who read. A tribute to all of the many women young and old who who bear the stains of unkindness and the lack of caring. EXCELLENT

succint words of a tragic demise defy critique, and paled by such words are listless minds that cannot bother to be bothered by the passions from which such passions arise

OMG! This sad poem took the heart away! Your last line 'Cry a tear for her, SCREAM' excited all the sad feelings. Nice work my friend.

SCREAM indeed! A beautiful verse! There are so many children who are simply put, "Throw Away Kids"...A sad song I sing for this loss of young life. Thank you for the invitation to read. Cynthia

I'm afraid I was a humanitarian for 28 years Donald and quite the struggle at that to get to a place of serenity, I stopped maturing at the age of 14, after my father's death whereas I left the farm in Applachia to see the world, and boy, did I, I could relate to the thread, and then I took a second and third glance and realized by the last line and "was" that infact, it was not for me, but all in all I can relate very well to your poetry and I thank you sooo much for sharing, Cindy Lu Cayton

Thank you for your kind remarks. Please see my reply to your first comment. Note: I had never hear the name before that I know of but the name and the poem came to me in a dream.

Perhaps it is a common thread that you wrote this endearing poem for another Lucinda. I've been on this site for over 6 1/2 years and have remained the only one bearing that name, so you can see why I could think it may perhaps be from someone unbeknown to me, take care and god bless, and sorry if I misunderstood. I can relate so well to your poetry, you are a very good writer. Lucinda "Cindy" Cayton

This is a poem as a tribute to all of the many, many young women who are taken from us; cast aside and left dead or dieing in the dirt simply to satisfy some predators sexual fantasies. Thank you for your comment.

I am that woman child... :) smile, my repence is always the first thing upon my heart, and life goes on, one sin does not outweigh another, they are just not good. And after over a decade of abstinence, of course I felt very much like a woman. I hope I am the Lucinda you speak of, Lucinda "Cindy Lu Cayton :)
