About This Poem
Too Soon Denied
Holding your hand, memories fly
Wonderful times when you were young
Soft morning song-bird sweetly sung
Through thick and thin, I do…standby
As illness creeps and firmly holds
From you I keep, the truth untold
Though pure of heart I had to lie!
Forgive me love! You should not know
Too soon denied. You had to go!
I tried to look you in the eye,
As clouds dripped tears of grey on me
Through mist filled eyes I could not see
The truth from you, I did deny…
A ravaged body slowly took
Our vows, and ripped them from the book
In front of you, tried not to cry
Though in your face there was no doubt
That locked inside, a silent shout!
A broken heart wanted to die!
A promise made… kept to the end
Up to heaven, my love I’ll send.

Holding your hand, memories fly
Through thick and thin, I do stand bye
Though pure of heart I had to lie,
I tried to look you in the eye
The truth from you, I did deny…
In front of you, tried not to cry
A broken heart wanted to die
