As I walk to work each morning,
I pass a homeless man on the street.
He's always singing and tapping
his cold shoeless feet.
He smiles and he waves as I pass him by.
I throw my hand up ask myself "why"?
How is it this man's sad lonely life,
that's probably been filled with heartache and strife
can sit and smile every single day.
As without a care in the world
and always say, "hey".
For here I am a self-made man
who can buy anything I choose in this land.
Yet I can't seem to find this man's joy,
Like a kid at Christmas with a brand new toy.
So I must find this secret whatever it may be.
I know that I'll love it,
It's just the thing for me.
So one day I stop and I ask this old man,
what seems to be your secret sir
to always waving your hand?
To always smiling and laughing as people walk by,
but you always look at us like you're wanting to cry.
So I'm begging you sir, please!
How can I start?
He smiled and said it's easy friend,
just give God your heart.
