I tried to run free but was drowned in the emotion tide

I’ve wasted time and a thousand tears

To battle sadness and all my fears

Loneliness is always a step away

My heart is broken every moment of every day

I covered the lies with a shroud of hate

I tried to find the truth but of course it was to late

An unkempt promises is the birth of every dawn

I tried to win the game but I was an expendable pawn

I searched my soul but only found trouble

I tried to solve my problem but only made it double

I searched for love but it always had a good place to hide

I tried to run free but was drowned in the emotion tide

I wonder if our poetry is a way to cleanse the bitterness and disappointment we get snared in. I feel what you write is based on your experiences and feelings so dear Kevin its ok to speak here, I think you are safe!
