in due silence

In due silence
the cars outside will cease
to exist
and the trees will no longer
tap messages on
my window.

In due silence
my paper 
will become 
and the words 
will become 
until all that is meant
is asleep.

In due silence
my heart will still from
chasing it's tail
and imagining 
it will be 

and I sit here
while the refrigerator
and the furnace pipes
and the trees are still
tap, tap, tapping
to me.

Once for
I love you
Two for
I can't
Three for
move on
and four
I forget.

In due silence I will love you
like a raindrop spilling
from a cloudy sky
to land on your
