I've found the road through most of life has potholes well disguised.
Some are there and are so big they trumpet your demise.
So as you travel carefully to miss the ones you see,
You veer into the hidden ones so inadvertently.
That puppy love that stole your heart so many years ago.
Your first real love and moonlight kiss that left your heart aglow.
A mom, a dad, a friend, an aunt, were there and now they're gone.
A pet, a home, a special dream you cherished for so long.
All that God hath given you can quickly fade away,
And nothing can console your heart on that fateful day
Except the hugs and warmth and love of all around who care,
For nothing else can mend a heart but those who love and share.
