Nature's Way

Chirping black birds congregate upon the land
While painted butterflies frolic freely overhead
Unmindful of the mist that lady nature’s spread
For nothing can disturb this happy band.

Rumbling thunder shouts a robust warning
Lightening rips across the sky zizzy-zig-zag
Misty evening’s grey and trees wave like flags
To the day now a widow who’s in mourning.

Raindrops pelt the helpless earth making pools
on the ground while howling wind shakes the trees
and sends leaves a twirling in the angry breeze
Birds and butterflies are gone showing they’re not fools.
