SUMMER SUNSET

The sky was aglow in sunset orange
And lingering clouds hung in the west.
Evening came but caused none to cringe
As all were gathered home to rest.

In the orchard road I stopped awhile.
I stood alone- transfixed and awed.
What I saw gave rise to an inner smile
As I viewed the handiwork of God.
