About This Poem
The Proposal
The shy day eased in, nerves ran a mock.
The shy voice practised the words, quietly
Would it be on one knee, or in bed?
This is forever, not just weekdays or weekends
It isn’t a sandwich, it’s the whole loaf!
All or nothing, or nothing at all.
The ring…this ring, I am about to give to you
Is not a piece of bling, it is a part of me,
It is a segment of life, a helix of love.
I am prepared for you to say ‘no’
I am not prepared for you to not want me
I need you to want me, I need you to say…I do!
The pressure is on, I can feel the heat...
