About This Poem

Dark Snow

It wasn't the Phd. in Psychology you
received from Harvard at twenty two
that impressed me. It wasn't the fact that
you had created Pan African Studies
at Cal State Los Angeles.

It was your kindness and sense of humor.
Your exquisite Egyptian face and long
voluptuous neck that pulled me under.
Together, the torrid nights flew by but
there was a demon fly who flew around us
like a poisonous black bat who was always
attempting to capture your soul and destroy me.

He persisted until one day we broke like a
stained glass window smashing the beautiful
colored glass every where on the floor as
dirty, dark snow seeped into the vestry.
