Another Face

A fleeting look, a flash of fire
Frail wings that fan the light;
A flame that's so enticing
Condemned her to ignite.

Suddenly he's there
With cunning threads that knot
His touch, the wanton smile
A word without a thought.

And from the smoking ash
Fades love's forgotten glow
She's just another face
A girl he used to know.

    WOW! Effective alliteration in your first verse! You decode the emotions of the cunning and the castoff with equal facility. You possess such great understanding of the Human Condition. Well done... again! Love Keith

    Thanks, Liz, for your kind comment re my poetry. It means lot to me because I consider your poetry at the top of the list. Do hope this finds you well. I haven't been into Poetry Soup for some time as I have been preparing 7 lectures and writing a workbook for the Bach Flower Remedies. My lectures start next Tuesday. I will later be doing webinars. Lastly, I loved your love poem....so much truth lies therein. Love, Maureen. God bless you and keep you.

    Elizabeth-Dear, I had to place this one in my favourites. There is so much here, so much ART. I would put this up side by side with one of my favourite poets, Edna St Vincent Millay... The voice is yours... it is only the OOOMPH factor that reminds me of her. The line a word without a thought is etched now... Sorry for my absence, think of your often. My daughter is keeping me hoping, and we are half potty trained, now. Summer is oddly busy for us, I am enjoying it but looking forward to sept.

    These threads the weaver weaves will inevitably tangle them by their feet until they can no longer traverse their web. This poem expresses just how cruel and uncaring people can be towards one another. Thank you for sharing, forget such a cad :).

    Romance is always enticing until the one 'enticer' turns into a selfish, worthless creep. 'Let go and live' is easy to say, not so easy to do. Luv, Keith :)
