Nightmare

A terrible storm
Dark clouds drift overhead
Lightning strikes
Thunder rumbles
The earth shakes
I cannot hear it
I cannot see it
I can feel it

The silence slices like a sharp knife
Its blade caresses my skin
The hollow wind whispers in my ear
I cannot hear it
I cannot see it
I feel it

Rain pours down
Raindrops shatter like glass as they hit the surface
Causing the ground to shake beneath my feet
The smell of death looms in the air
It invades like a strong army
Stampeding like a thousand horses
I cannot hear this
I cannot see this
I can feel this

The shadowy black I see darkens
Terror captures my soul
My mind is in torment
An unbearable feeling fills me
Sickness washes over
I’m chilled to the bone
I cannot move
I am frozen
Frozen in my own fear

I try to run but I go nowhere
Doomed to stillness
A terrified shriek escapes my mouth
But I hear nothing
I make no sound
Nothing at all comes out
Tears tear down my cheeks
Racing down
As if terrified themselves
They leave streams of fear

A shadow creeps through the darkness
It dances on my face
Jumping up and down
Stomping, teasing
I cannot hear
I cannot see
I can only feel

Something warm runs down my face
It burns my skin
I know it cannot be a tear
It runs through my mouth
It tastes of death
It begins to rain down on me
I am showered with crimson rain

I open my mouth to scream
But once again
Nothing comes out
I make no sound
I can hear
I can see
...I can feel

I hear a soft whisper
The voice of death calls my name
I can sense it
I have no control
My body moves towards the voice
It summons me closer
I can hear this
I can see this
I can feel this

The whisper draws me nearer
A quiet raspy voice prods me on
Death grabs me by the hand
The wind grows violent
It quietly howls my name
Tangled trees dance around me
Their branches clawing at my flesh
The sky fades to grey
Rain pours down violently
Clouds spitting in disgust
Droplets burning my skin at the touch
Piercing me like bullets
The elements lash out in anger
Now all screaming my name
The voices grow louder

My body takes a step towards the voices
I am enveloped in warmth
My breath escapes my lungs
I cannot breathe
I fall to the ground
I turn my head to the sky
But I cannot hear
I cannot see
I cannot feel
