Broken Trust

houses of worship
assemblies religious
temples of mistrust,

sermonize away
faithful members
foundering trust,

revered teachers
from biblical truth
have gone astray,

servant leadership
observant believers
yet willfully obey,

holier-than-thou
moralistic clergy
orating untruths,

rehearsed sayings
misspoken under
consecrated roofs,

learned ministers
faux shepherds
well-versed lies,

on Sunday morn
loyal worshipers
yet dutifully rely
