Heart of Death

heart of death
a lifelong stain,
vessel of fear
forever vain,

forsaken flesh
perennial pain,
malignant spirit
ere still remain,

hapless mind
absent again,
errant thoughts
abject refrain,

cowardly soul
endlessly bane,
willful darkness
ne’er restrain,

unholy shadow
of finite disdain,
deathward sinner
constant remain
