About This Poem
My Handsome Lad
My handsome lad, merry eyes asmiling,
with emerald eyes dancing beguiling.
Strong hands so whisper sweet,
Gently wipes tears from rosy cheek.
A sacred promise of unharmed return,
Swiftly stifling needless concern.
The tides of change have begun,
To sow the seed of wars to come.
Awe, my lad with brave valiant heart,
War has torn us e'ermore apart.
A heavy heart eternally mourns,
War's briar has callous steel thorns.
Fair thee well my handsome lad,
The winds lament forevermore sad.
My handsome lover laid to rest,
On sacred hills angelic saints blessed.
