the skeleton tree

i am the skeleton tree
bare branches where leaves
are suppose to be
i am the skeleton tree
bare bones and no flesh
not another me
i am the skeleton tree
thousands of ancesters
but not one child for me
i am the skeleton tree
the end of my fathers name
and so called legacy

yet i sing a song
like there is nothing wrong
and being last doesn't matter
and yet i've writen a verse
that many will rehurse
when one day my poetry matters
and when i die
who knows who will cry
i'll just be dead and gone
but the skeleton tree
that once was me
will live on in eternity
the skeleton tree
that one could read
and ponder possibilities
a skeleton tree
that one could recite
tell the difference between wrong and right
a skeleton tree
with branches and no leaves
yet and still the best of me
a skeleton tree
in this world i leave

OK Sir Loving iii...to answer your question. God didn't make Eve to be a slave to Adam. He made each with their separate responsibilities...not one to be subjected to the whim and fancy of the other, they were to be partners with the man as the leader of the two. Man was to be a representative of God here on Earth, but he failed! Anyway great write here and bold imagery. Thanks for visiting. One love. Joy Wells

branches barren and bereft, clinging to what little they have left, memories of sparkling sunlight to warm the bleak lonely nights, sad leaves speak in tongues of teal, willows weep, yes it's real, they feel...

One of these days John you will bloom and when that happens all of us will celebrate. Such a great analogy of tree to yourself, who else would have thought of it?

Hi there, John...This is emotionally stirring to me and has brought chills to my spine...Yes, I believe this poem will live on forever...It is multidimensional and one of your best to date! Glad u wrote this one just for you! Often times contests can spur your writing,...other times hinder it...Hope Nathan still gets to read this one..I do believe he will enjoy it as much as I do! see, I told you it's one of your best, andrea agrees :-) this version is as good as the original but the pedantic part of my mind liked the two neat twelve line stanzas of the original lol ah yes the fourth of july holiday, I'd forgotten that, hopefully your outing was more pleasant than my poem, send some of that heat over here...

I'm very enthusiastic about this latest poem of yours, it's one of your best, rather depressing my sweet, but I like the personification...and what you're alluding to seems to have eluded both of us in one way and another...
