Mourning Bell

In the distance a lone bell sounds
breaking the silence of endless grief
while black silk this widow surrounds
my pale cheeks shown in stark relief

Like echoes of a whispered prayer
in the distance a lone bell sounds
as it keeps time with counted care
to footstep on these hollowed grounds

In deep relief, an angel crowns
a simple stone where love is drawn
In the distance a lone bell sounds
the tolling of a life now gone

This tear stained face will pain now trace
while all of hope in sorrow drowns
and listens with an ageless grace
in the distance a lone bell sounds

Very nicely written poem. I hope you do well in your life. I hope to not hear that bell for awhile.
