Studying degree college in coastal Mangalore,
We were like twin sisters of the soul
Hearts joined together like a string passed through the hole,
Living far away from home, our impish frolics galore!
First day onward, we were best friends forever
Right from sharing notes, to attending lectures,
We talked consistently, laughter in giggling raptures
Without each other, anywhere, we were seen, never.
Boarding the local bus, a daily jostling race
The stronger one survives here, the established evolution law
Behind my already shaken friend, in the bus I saw
Edging towards her, one pervert with a smirk on his face.
He'd always hate my guts for doing this
Stepping between them, I crushed his toes with my heeled shoe
He yelled in agony, his face almost turned blue!
Teaching the pervert a lesson was my heartfelt wish.
Feigning innocence, with a swing, I turned back
Slapping against his face, my bag, heavy and yellow,
Filled with hard bound journals, he was such a short squat fellow
Looked at him square in the eye, courage, I didn't lack.
Quite a long time ago, has all this been
We continued to commute by bus through the town
Daily morning up to our college and by evening down
But from that day, forever the pervert was never seen.
