two cats

She sits amongst the broom and vines
staring into my window.
Solemn and quiet, not moving at all,
on the side of the hill below.

She sits inside this pane of glass.
Her tail twitches as she spies
another cat in the yard below.
Each frozen, as eyes meet eyes.

Two cats watching. One in, one out.
A staring contest between the two.
Then softly the raindrops start to fall
and now ... the contest is through.

I hated the sounds they made during the night when they challenged each other to a fight. Good poem as usual, Francine.

Very nice poem and easy to read, it flows from your pen to my thoughts. Calm until that rain starts.

I own a cat myself that I wouldn't part with. His name is "Shiloh". I have seen my cat eyeball the neighbours cat, but it didn't stop there. The two cats took up a hissing contest in which I had to intervene. The glass window also was between them. I enjoyed your poem.

Hullo Francine. I enjoyed reading this cat poem a lot. Quite different from some - 'twas a very calm, tranquil read for me, especially since I am cat person....literally; I mean, I even purr lol.
