This Land is My Land

Great untouched woods of the north
Where pines still grow a hundred foot

Small valleys, no vast mountains
Where every few miles runs a natural fountain

We have an upper and a lower half
Summers so perfect- always sigh 'n' laugh

Wolves still howl in places far and deep
Moose and deer frolick, play and leap.

Surrounded all sides by the Great Lakes
The state one and only- make no mistake

Cities, huge, cramped, cacophonic clamor
Deep woods, so silent, rare a flashy glamour

Mute forests, harmony with nature some prefer
Shrill of streets, dogs, and cars some infer

Full of culture and fellowship- we citizens
This magical place of peace is my state- Michigan.

Hi Amy, awe! I see your still brilliant, and a dedicated strong poet. Good luck in the contest with your mighty land poem. On another note: Hi, Amy hi, I have been waiting to stop for a long while now. First, let me tell you something. "WELCOME BACK!" I have missed you throughout the years. Do not think I have not, just cause of our back than history. Which was nothing really? I am glad you had lots of life to explore. You will always be a special poet in my book * remember we added a little bit of female slam here on the soup, How I could ever forget. You actually inspired one of the best slams i ever shared out here. I actual won first place with it, down the Mustang Island, here in Corpus Christi Texas; I entered the forever slam, in a giant spring break contest, slamming the Cracker Jack box. HA!

HA! I had to change many words. Maybe one day, I will share it here on the soup, always wanted too..((With your permission of course)) Do not worry I transformed the entire poem. and thank you so much for accepting me for who I really am inside and out,, ha ha,, hope you know the outside of me is much deeper than the inside,, and I don't care what anyone says. I truly am nothing like my poet name. I am a kitty Kat in disguise. Yes, with that big base you mentioned in my blog. Always,PD

Your love for your land is clearly expressed. Please have that affinity which is essential. All love their lands deeply. I pity the landless. Thanks for your superb couplet which I devoured.
