Joie de Vivre - Isn't Life Sweet

Joie de Vivre - isn’t life sweet, especially when you add a treat like a delicious patisserie, crème glacée, éclairs, le pan de mie, chocolat, and le tarte aux fruits? Eat not just fiber, cheese and meat! Though you should eat these happily, eat also sweetly, mon petit! Joie de vivre. Just one more stanza I repeat (and this is for your joy complete) Do more than eat to live! Like me, to life and sweet desserts say Oui! And every day - Bon appetit! Joie de vivre. (All end rhymes should match with the French words/the two rhymes being EET and EE) Pardon my French: (I think this is what I meant!) Joie de Vivre - Joy of Living Patisserie (pah-tees-ree)- pastry Crème Glacée - ice cream Le pan de mie - sweet bread Le tarte aux fruits (le-tart-oh-frweet)- the fruit tart (or pie) Chocolat and Eclairs, like in English Mon petit: My little or My boy Oui! - Yes! Bon appetit - Enjoy your meal! For Cyndi MacMillan's UN, DEUX, TROIS....OOH LA LA!!!!

Awesome, Andrea. Even with just two years of high school French, I could understand the entire poem. Some people do eat to live, but others live to eat. LOL Very cute entry and I wish you success. Love, carolyn

all this talk of food is making me soooo hungry! I actually went to France once - it was beautuiful, what I saw of it, but I could not stand the smell of the patisseries. they made me gag. (how is that for random susan trivia?) anyway, good luck in cyndie's contest :)

If I ate like that Andrea I'd be the size of a house! Wonderful things to think of and I do but have to steer clear of them which takes all my will power. How do you stay so slim or do you just tease with this? :)

I eat like this at least once a day, but always I'm counting calories. If I decide, for example, to overindulge on just one thing, I pay for it by cutting back the rest of the day!!

This is great Andrea that you have explained the meaning of these beautiful French words. The taste of Creme Glacee and Le tarte aux fruits became more delicious like your sweet Poem. My French was zero and perhaps it would remain like that in future also. These words are only what you taught us. Thanks for teaching some basic words of French. Love and best wishes...Ravindra...Andrea Dietrich

Sweet indeed! Your French is perfect, and the way you blend it into the English is marvelous! Great flow and rhyming... Best wishes, Keith
