Right To Love

What would my world be
if not allowed to love what I see?

Who are you to judge
what I am allowed to prejudge?

My gay friend is not allowed to love
it is emotional racism,an emotional boxing glove

I will lead my gay friend into tomorrow
where love rules, free from a yesterday of sorrow

My only judge mental religion
Is my very heart, filled with love,a shining pigeon

What is the difference of saying; "white only"
vs "heterosexuals only"? My church may end up lonely..

Think most of us grew up with a friend or knowing somebody being gay/lesbian.In these modern times we know people don`t choose their sexual orientation.A great friend from back in schooldays nearly committed suicide because his gay orientation didn`t allow him to live an acceptable life.I greet these changes we now see as yet another step in the direction of respect and tolerance.A new beginning for the civilization:-)

I had a young friend, whom I helped to raise, loved him and adored him. He was gay. Brandon took his life when he was 19. the world is not so bright without him. Congratulations on your win in Micheal's contest! Hugs, Catie :)Loved your poem,

The heart has no bounds who it chooses to love. If someone can love an animal or a possession our heart is capible of loving another person of the same gender who is to say what is right? I say the person who puts boundries on love lives with their eyes and hearts closed. more power to you for writing such a wonderful poem.

Bravo for taking a stand, Arild. God did not put us on earth to judge each other; that' his job. I have had many gay friends and most of them were incredibly compassionate individuals. So proud of you for posting this awesome, life-altering poem. Love, Carolyn

BRAVO! Arild, I'm so glad you had the courage to post this incredible poem. Discrimination by sexual preference seems just as bad as discrimination of any other type, yet there are few who will speak out on this. My church doesn't sanction gay unions. Indeed, this has become "an emotional boxing glove." Outstanding! Love, carolyn

I feel this way too. I feel so sad for gays. I know the church says one thing but I don't understand how they can expect them to live as celibates rather than practice what they want to be doing. It's one of those things in life I will never understand. 10 percent of men are gay. It's pretty much been proven!(so how can we say it's "unnatural"?) Good one. Andrea
