Midsummer Burning

Grass been long burnt to brown,
ain't no moisture on the rise,
Forests have crumbled low
     right before your very eyes.
Skin is left far behind
on concrete moved past the grey,
Nothing moves far from the shore
in the middle of this day.
Changes upon changes
     have soon disappeared from sight,
Broken heat from high noons
     linger on beyond midnight.
Wilted crops paint the grounds
in their final dance of death,
Cursing the summers heat
with the last of dying breath.
