About This Poem
The Calling of Hades at the Games
Shield and sword in hand
Broken legs, a quill of plan
Praying to die as real men
Hades calls to all
Free men kill for coin and fame
Energized audience bays.
Crushed skulls see no more
Extend hand to dying friend
Glory sought- life’s bitter end
Cheering crowd - no grief
Spartacus, Oenomaus
Refuse to see his brother +
Die in sh** and shame--
Fragmented parts bleed in sand
Detached eyes taken to wing
The crowds dance and sing
Two champions form a bond
Clanking steel, new language formed
Together they fight
Clashing with Devils, winning
Hoping honorable death
Each sees to his friend
Promises made for their death
Both grasp knowledge of his end.
