GOOD NIGHT PRETORIA

The sun kneels to kiss the
skyscrapers
The Darkness floats above like
clouds
And those homeless become
accidental campers
Setting their plastic beds on the
cold flours

These black concrete rivers
Flood with moving lights
And its banks are swarmed
With men who’s faces lulled
Locked in deep thought

As the night ages once more
Laddies emerge from the
Corners of the streets
Clothed with nothing but
desperation and despair
As they seek an audience with
men of matrimony,
They sway their hips fishing
them to their cause

Good night Pretoria, the city of
dreams.

Awesome imagery, Ronny. I especially like the way you describe the "black concrete rivers" because so much of our land has been lost to devlopers. Excellent write! Love, Carolyn

Ronny Thanks for sharing this poem which introduced me to PRETORIA. It looks like a beautiful city located in South Africa. The society's truth is sad: homeless people abound anywhere. Great poem. Nice meeting you in PS. Dalila Dalila

This is very good Ronny...Pretoria is my hometown...point though is that I could so well imagine the scene you painted here, probably somewhere near Sunnypark in my mind...Does Sunnypark still exist? So many (broken) dreams lie there...wonderful, imagery! I'm adding you to my favourite poets...Good Night Pretoria :)
