About This Poem
THE TRAVELLING STUDENT
With books in one hand, feeling very dilly,
and in the other an umbrella when it rained...
I waited for the train going to the city;
not enough time to talk, but they understood.
Seeing the Campanian landscape offered joy,
so the Romans called it the Happy Land,
but Mussolini's reign made it a sad one:
buildings bombarded, lives lost...harmony gone!
Entered in nette oncloud's contest
