Sea Change

Starfish hands splaying within, playing in my heart's harbour; a tiny mollusc, rocking in my body's boat. You sailed from my skin, loosed from my womb's safe mooring, the port of my arms; adrift, receding from reach on my heartbreak horizon.
written in memory by Charlotte Puddifoot for Russell Sivey's 'A Mesh Of Forms' contest (dodoitsu and tanka forms used)

a white package was found to day stuffed inside my door. for a moment i wondered what could this be for. and then i saw the postcards, the pictures of my home over there. and stones to put in our fish tank, at first i wondered where. and a letter written in her hand. to me this means so much. for unto us who love from afar this is the way we touch.
