About This Poem
First Car, Costly Lesson
There once was a boy newly licensed to drive
put the pedal to metal, flying high and alive
should have taken more care,
he was quite unaware
that his good luck would soon take a dive.
In his haste to go play
he failed to yield right-of-way
oh my, what a bother-
other driver - his father!
A dark cloud passed over his day.
No one hurt in the crash
boy no longer so brash
dad not amused
son paid his dues
and saw his chevy carted off with the trash.
