March of the Barefooted

When Suns are young and we are born
Not needing shoes to kick the womb
A maze of mirrors, gates to the unknown
Erects us tall blinding hearts with hopes...

And we pretend we know the way
Although there are so many lefts
The rights are few, we change our shoes
The thickness of the Soul.?..depending on the distance...

"I close my eyes, my boots are tearing flesh alive
I have to walk and cry for miles and miles
There is no turning back, the lefts are few
Straight forward? Bullets... Upward? An eagle and the sky...

I fight a desert that's not mine to quench the thirst in few"
A maze of foggy mirrors shatters rhythmically in echoes...
And sons were young when blinded by uniforms and pride
Their stolen boots walk now eternally......for miles and miles....

Iolanda, when we have to walk and cry miles and miles barefooted with no one to smile at us.... Even 'baldheaded'. Good job. Cheers.

now this IS poetry!!! i loved it "i walk and cry for miles and miles" that was my fav line but i got the point. and the hint of gender difference between soldier and mother; the one who gives and the other that was taken from. one who gambles and the other that would never gamble for fear of losing. bravo! bravo!

The road is never smooth in life and the shoes must walk on some hard pebbles. Have a nice Mother's Day.

Oh, the burdens in this life like a pebble in our shoe. I enjoyed each verse attuned to the human condition.

the title of this alone makes me feel it's a profound poem, Iolanda. "I have to walk and cry for miles and miles" it makes me think of those who are forced to do unspeakable and painful things in their young lives. Hope I got that right. Luv, Andrea
