good for the gander

to really please the ladies on the soup
there's one sure thing i should put to use
to keep the ladies smiling all the time
i should use my dictionary for every line

and when i'm at the office and have something to say
i just call my secretary who comes running right away
she who is always ready to take down every line
always comes prepared for dictation everytime

make sure you check your spelling with a helpfull book
it only takes a second for a secretary to look
and when she takes dictation make sure she gets it right
because if she likes what she's doin she'll do it day or night

Ha ha - - but I am probably the only one on Poetry Soup to disagree with you. Women were not born to correct the spelling of men. God gave each of us brains and it is your job to learn to spell. However, to add to this, it seems God has sent spell-checks now, ha ha. PS: helpful - - - only one l, ha ha. PPS - Where are your capitals? ha ha

Can I borow your secretery? LOL Very unique and good read. Loved it... Day and night? Ouch. PS. Allegorys are fables and didactic poetry is a teaching poem(ie fable)... There are 2 contests...I don't know if they are closed yet, tho.

John, my husband said that his spelling is so bad that he can't even look it up in the dictionary..So you are not the worst if you can use a dictionary..Yes, rutabaga is an acquired taste I guess maybe like fine wine or buttermilk..Thanks for stopping by..I did fix two pans of cornbread that day..One was the cornbread sticks which my family eats first..I need another pan to prepare them in so I can make plenty of the ones they desire..Sara

i hate it that my poem was so missunderstood. it took me a second but i finaly got the joke. that is so insulting to many women. secretaries and women at home. i never ment this my brother. i only ment to have fun. with the words.

Most of us don't have the handy secretary but we do have spell check and the dictionary which is more reliable and none of us have excuses. Thank you for your wise comments on my Dear Son poem. Love, Joyce
