Jerkus

Approach the well, Jerkus, and drink deeply
For it contains a fresh awakening
And a second chance

Do not be afraid, Jerkus…
Raise the ladle to your sad, parched lips
And drink…

Behold, Jerkus, as the blackest caverns
Of your forlorn heart
Are awash in forgiveness

Even as you weep, Jerkus, continue to partake…
The well was meant for you
And those like you

And when your thirst is finally slaked
And your leaden grief lifted from weary shoulders
Go forth, Jerkus

And lead the others
To this sacred place
As you, Jerkus, were once led

For they
Blind with ashen grief
Cannot find it themselves
