Studio Time

“Do you mind if I go powder my nose sweetie?”
“Be with you soon dear”
She sits patiently while the allotted minutes go by unharmed by activity, lounging on the sofa barely dressed in an ill fitting edifice, staring at the ceiling and hardly noticing the building frustration from behind the camera.
“Time is my plaything, be professional sweetie”; she tells herself quietly while twizzling her hair and trying not to notice the cold draught that penetrates the inexpensive guise.
A look over her shoulder and there appears to be a consensus that all is not right with the lights.
She lets out a barely audible “sigh”.
“Be with you soon dear”
“No worries sweetie, take your time” she says politely.” Amature” muttered in a whisper.
The photographer and his assistant look up not sure if they heard right, look at each other “Huh!”
She faints a smile while looking beyond the camera to the clock. Over an hour and not a sausage in the can. “Oh well his money not mine”; she muses.
“Bugger!!”
“What is it sweetie?”
“Be with you soon dear”; comes the now well worn phrase.
“No worries sweetie. Do you mind if I go powder my nose, sweetie”
“If you could just hang on a bit dear”
“It’s at times like this I wonder if it is all worth it, honestly! what a shambles!”, and if he calls me dear one more time...”; she says under her breath.
“That’s it!” A cry rings out.
“Oh good sweetie, I’m busting a balloon here”; all pretence at politeness now gone.
“No! That is it! I can’t get the bloody lights to work properly. What do I owe you for your time dear?”
“Call it 50 sweetie?”
“So sorry dear, can’t think why it’s not working, was fine yesterday”
“Oh its ok sweetie, these things happen, can’t be helped”; she lies
“So sorry dear” we will have to do this another time dear”
“Sure, give me a call sometime” NEVER she thinks
Then without another word between them she dumps the dress and rushes out the room completely naked, shouting “make way desperate woman coming through”.
The photographer turns to his assistant "Thought she was very good, don't you?" Nods all round.
