The Waterfall
The water falls over the face of a cliff
tumbling down its long incline into a deep pool
that sits among rocky outcropings and scrub oak.
Sapphire blue and icy cold from its glacier beginnings,
it tastes of high mountains and fir forests.
While the rumbling roar of the falls
bouncing off rocky cliffs, sends its
echo down the sides of the valley,
and a vivid rainbow arches across its face,
sparkling in the mist as it wavers and dances
in the sunlight.
