The Bell Emmanuel

Saturday night in Saint-Michel's Place
the stone carved demon he slew. It was
the bell, Emmanuel,
that I heard ring its knell;
Notre Dame's appeal we kneel for mass.

*Emmanuel is the name of the great bell in Notre Dame's south tower, from 1685. Place Saint Michel sounds in French like, "Ploss San Michele." Within sight of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, France; a statue of St Michael stands, sword in hand a, demon underfoot.

    I like it, I like it. Saint Michael is my patron Thanks for reading my cucaracha poem. And, you are right. They will inherit the earth if we destroy ourselves with a nuclear war. They have higher radiation resistance.

    Notre Dame Cathedral is a charming place as it stands at the middle of the Ile de la Cite. The streets there are all narrow cobblestone pathways that are too small for motor vehicles. You have to go on foot to see the sites on the little island in the Seine River. This is more interesting material.
