Read the Longer Stuff
When you have time, read the longer stuff. You don't know what you've been missing.

HI,Robert. I love this crystalline, and I do read longer stuff of my friends here. When we establish relationships with other poets, it's just easier to make the time for their longer works. Normally, I just prefer short poems. Over 30 lines in most poems turns me off. I would prefer to read a book with lots of small poems than a book with several long ones. that's just me! But you are right, I am sure there are many well written super long ones out there!!

Speaking of deceptive titles... I like this though. The last line sounds much more real and serious than that phrase usually does. On a related note, sometimes long poems are not as good as their shorter counter parts because languishing as much time and thought on a line in an epic as one would in a haiku is impossible. The extra freedom they give the poet can be very bad. If the poet is very good though, it can be more of a good thing.

This has been one of the better comments I've received since I have been on soup.

I have been afraid to write the longer stuff.I felt as if no one had the time to read it when I did write it.So true your words are.
