What Is A Man

What Is “A Man”?

   A man is:
when you sculpt a piggy bank of clay giving it the shape of a man,
notching a slot where a rib should be.
   A man is:
when you sculpt a piggy bank of clay giving it the shape of a man
to bring to the market to sell.

A man is:
when you sculpt a piggy bank of clay giving it the shape of a man
to turn the heads of children carried in their parent’s arms.

   A man is:
when you sculpt a piggy bank of clay giving it the shape of a man
to return home barely wrapped after failing to sell.
   A man is:
when you sculpt a piggy bank of clay giving it the shape of a man
to bequeath to your children to break its belly when
coins reach the throat.

   A man is:
when you sculpt a piggy bank of clay giving it the shape of a man
without being able to explain how.

Welcome. Thanks for the post. Unfortunately I do not have the right to publish all the translations of my poems, despite the fact that the royalty is not paid. I do not speak English very well, read better than write. I have read some of your poems. You are very interesting lyricist and use good verse forms. You can make a project: find the appropriate funding and authors who will wish me to translate their poems into Georgian. Also, there will be a big help for me, if with the support of the World Poets I will be able to sell the Lenin’s bust dated to 1926, created by Georgian sculptor, François Auguste René Rodin’s disciple. If you are interested to hear more, send me your e-mail. Wish you Merry Christmas and success. Sincerely, David Robakidze
