A MILLION MILES
I have no enemies
Just reluctant friends
Wishing I was just a little
different
But you,
You swear to cross swords
with me
But do hear me well
I wield no steel sword
Just this old pen
And a weary cold brian
With which to fight all wars.
Fly high meteorite
Burn your little life out
And I shall be here
when you dig the long fated
crater
When your salty ash scatter
And the rains fill your empty
shelter
I shall be here to tell your
story
A story of the giant storm
slain by a gentle voice
That story of the conquered
elephant
And the cunning tortoise.
But before the first shots
take flight
Here I knock your door
With an olive branch
And these priceless jewels
To buy your smile
And save us all
The waste of a million
precious miles.
