a death

a death i died today
for a love that went away
a cold and windy day
i could not ask her stay

the love we had was warm
and twas so beautifully formed
but roses have thorns
and memories, they warn

a tear is in my eye
and i almost start to cry, remembering
my tears were ment for someone else
don't take love and move it somewhere else

trapped by what love is
i'll just stay where i am
i'll go on the best i can
and sometime long to touch a hand

the river is flowing into an ocean
and the tide has torn us assunder
where will we drift i now wonder
i pray, don't let the tide take you under

It's not easy to be a lover is it John, a new problem lurks around every corner. Great verse full of emotion! Nice to see you visiting again - by the way, I didn't get your soup mail.

Wow! You are really posting some great work, John. I know the inspiration behind this write and you are just following God's plan now after losing April. Have you ever heard the song "Every Rose Has Its Thorns"? The line that follows the first is "Every night has it's dawn." Like you, I continue to search for that light. Beautiful work, my friend. Love, Carolyn
