About This Poem

desert sun

desert sun…
sears thirsty still life
of flesh and sagebrush

grey clouds burst
breaching dry nostrils…
soiled, wet, smelly dog

oh, my, what a vision! that soiled, wet smelly dog. I think you did a great job of using those sensory images and of sticking to shorter form. I am sure this should make it thru his first and second rounds!!

Caryl, I'm no haiku expert, but I know a good poem when I see one. Love the way you got all the "senses" involved here, especially the last line. Best wishes in Charles' contest and have a great Thanksgiving! Love, Carolyn
