Nobody Knows
nobody knows the pain i feel inside
nobody knows the tears that i cry
i was helpless in the dark
feeling hopeless in my heart
my body couldnt shut down
my mind couldnt cry out
silently i tried to scream
too scared to make a sound...
the despair kept building high
as the injustice kept mounting
the minutes dragged to hours
as i lay bruised and battered...
an eternity passes by
before my body moves again
i pick myself up off the floor
move quietly out the door...
days turn to weeks
weeks flow to years
i keep my secret close to me
not trusting even myself
i feign happiness and health
my life, its a picture of joy.
but if you look beyond my face
underneath the forceful smile
you can see the sadness that i hide
the emptiness in my heart
the bitterness staining my soul...
and still nobody knows the pain i feel inside
nobody knows the silent tears that i cry...
