cleaning up society

I'll bleach your summertime
get rid of the alleyway stains
the graffiti kids
it will be pure and painless
and quick as white lightening

I'll wipe away the greasy sunlight
and shepard the streetrace children safely into the embracement
of dim, airconditioned malls

I'll take away the snake-bites *
spider-bites
frost bite
vinegar the wounds for a quick recovery
and leave a fresh slate you can keep paintless

I'll show you the skeletons of beautiful sculptures
you can have them torn down (because theya re a safety risk)
eventually they'll be replaced with rose beds and
park benches
and plastic children's playgrounds

you can speak your prayers
your good intentions
to the wide eyed youth
who know the real price of marking the miles of white train tunnel
and of the unyeilding, ugly concrete
under your white summer world

* These are types of facial peircings
