Winter's Relief

Let winter come
And freeze the sky
No more will shadows cast
Let showers turn to heaps of snow
With gardens hidden deep

Let working cease
Migration fly
Let herds to safety dash
Farmers idle, fires glow
No fields left to reap

My picket fence
Blockaded high
No perfect cobbled path
Let winter come, and snowstorms blow
I need some time to sleep

Like this one a lot. We've got 6 months of the winter out here in Calgary - I will tuck these images in my pocket when I brace the winds.

Heya Kyle. Very strong imagery throughout, and the ending is perfect. Truly captured the reason why winter can be great, despite the freezing cold....one sure does sleep better in the winter, eh. I saw your comment on my alliterative poem and chuckled because your own name has the same 'k' alliteration as the character in my poem. You have a very neat middle name.

Had to chuckle at the last line. You do give the reader something to think about here. Keep on writing and sharing your words. Thank you for your kind comment. Karen

A lovely write on winter Kyle, You take the languid approach with resting as the reward. Could feel the effects of that sweet time.
