How Far Will You Fly

How far will you fly?
Cross continent? Moonward?
Across the room?
When will you depart?
Through which gate?
Let me fly with you.
You won't even notice me,
On the wing,
Clinging for life (and love),
Blue-black with dread.
Why do you flee me,
choosing a destination
from which it will be
impossible
to book a return?
