HOT SLOW DAYS

Little as a mountain can be,
near waters calm and an idling breeze.

Inland wheatfields sun on ears,
expanding 45 gallon cans suppressed echoes hear.

Semi's engine drone all day to the railhead clear,
sweat running on flesh like honeyed tears.

Sweet and fetid the elder scent
canvas hats the horizon swimming and bent

mealy lung invading dryness thick,
creaking timberd floor and a rustling''quick''

then quietude..as a sunbeam falls,
on wheat shed door and cobwebbed wall.

Hey Joe! You paint sections of a panorama on each line, Joe. They are amplified by sound.."creaking timbered floors", "engine drone"....then lastly, "quietude", zeroing in on "sunbeam falls" and the "cobwebbed wall".:) Visual, accompanied by sounds and smellsl. Brings this panorama to life! Hope all's well with you and yours! Love, Mikki

I can feel the heat and your descriptions are so unique. The last line brings me to the barn where that cobweb is. I like to be able to see what's going on and you sure do that.

This was a very down to earth write about ordinary things and happening in life but was at the end so relaxing and I could feel the spirit of the author..Enjoyed reading this morn..This is one for my favs...Your review of my work "The Swarming Bees" was very uplifting..That was a happening in my life at around seventeen years old..My brother's stepson was home visiting from his tour of duty in the Navy...He saw the bees heading straight for me..He grabbed me and pulled in down in the ditch..Sara
