I want to thank you father
For being the best that you could be
Thank you for the laughter
And all the love you gave to me
To be honest I was lucky
Getting you to be my Dad
You knew exactly how to handle me
Making sure that I didn’t turn out bad
Others would have given up
Thinking that I was a waste of time
You stood besides me through it all
Regardless of the crime
Believing there was good in me
You loved me just the same
Even when bad things happened
Where I was to blame
So, I thank you Dad with all my heart
For being who you are
You’ve made this world a better place
You are my shining star
