The Boy Who Drowned

Diving and swimming joys
Haunted him that sunny morning.
He took a towel
And left his home sweet.

Later, seeking woman saw
Dearest half-trousers
On the bank of pond.
She stranded in black mud of pain.

Her eyes are bare, and veins dried.
Holy men make the pyre,
Cutting lonely tree in the yard,
And all its buds fall down.

Hi Faviyas! Sorrowful piece, that feels like a fabled legend. Was sad for "The Boy Who drowned". The grief of his half-sister, kindles this "pyre"? Very deep verse...I'm going to have trouble shaking off the mood it ignites. Have a wonderful week! Wishing you the best...Mikki

How sad it must have been for a mother to find her son's body this way. The last two lines are a nice touch -- a reflection on a life cut short. Genuinely moving poem, my friend. You painted this story so well through your words, Fabiyas. Love, Carolyn
